Women's Day events in March

The Sabancı University Gender and Women's Studies Forum celebrates International Women's Day with a number of events in March. Events include a trivia contest, film screenings and panel discussions.

The first of the celebratory events held by the Gender and Women's Studies Forum will be the Feminist Trivia Challenge, which will take place on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 12:40 hours in the Cafeteria. The contest will be in Turkish and English, and winners will get various prizes.

The first panel discussion to commemorate International Women's Day will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Sabancı University campus. The keynote speaker of the event co-hosted by the Cultural Studies Program and the Gender and Women's Studies Forum will be Aslıgül Berktay with her lecture titled "The Black Atlantic: Recrafting History, Culture, Gender, and Religion”. The Cinema Club will co-host the screening of “Mustang” in the Cinemal Hall the same evening. Members of the Gender and Women's Studies Forum will have an interview with the audience after the film.

The “Gender and Peace: Women's Role in Peace Building” panel discussion will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 3 pm at the Karaköy Minerva Palas. Speakers will be Doğuş Derya and Mouna Ghanem.

The series will continue with concerts by all-women bands Zile Basıp Kaçanlar and Ritimkolektif in the Cinema Hall on Tuesday, March 15.

On Monday, March 21, at 2:40 pm, Anita Toutikian will give a lecture titled "The Story of An Art Career from a Woman Perspective” at the Sabancı University campus.

The series will conclude with the screening of the film “Çekmeceler” in the Cinema Hall on Tuesday, March 22 co-hosted by Civic Involvement Projects.
